Boys' Play Clothes: Italian Trends--Tossing Games

Figure 1.-- An Italian reader tells us about a popular tossing game with bottle caps. The children try to bounce the bottle caps as close possible to a wall. The photo was taken several years ago, probably in the 1980s by a well-known photographer, Gabriele Chiesa.

An Italian reader tells us about a popular tossing game with bottle caps. The children try to bounce the bottle caps as close possible to a wall. It is a traditional game of the Italian children. Our Italian reader writes, "Here you can see children playing in Bari (a town in southern Italy). The children are playing with bottle caps. The game consists in flipping the bottle cap so it lands as close to the wall as possible. There were different tactics. It is a traditional game of Italian children. The photo was taken several years ago, probably in the 1980s by a well-known photographer, Gabriele Chiesa." I remember the same game in America. We used pennies or baseball cards. I forget now what it was called.
