Artists Illustrating Boys' Fashions: C. Hansen (Denmark, early 20th Century

Figure 1.--This portrait by Danish artist C. Hansen shows a boy with short cropped hairm wearing a dress or tunic outfit The prtrait was painted in 1896.

C. Hansen was a Danish artist. We know nothing about him yet , but note this portrait of a boy with cropped hair in a kind of dress or tunic outfit. Hansen painted it in 1896. The outfit is unlike any other I have noted eralier. The boy seems to wear some kind of very plain cream-colored dress. Over the dress he wears a kind of wrap or gown without ant front with a matching waist band. I just don't know what to call this. Perhaps some of our Danish readers with provuide some guidance. He seems to be standing beside a crib, perhaps it was his crib as an infant.
