Harold and Phyllis (December 1906)

This photograph was taken during the winter of 1906. Mallowfield was their country estate located near Mamaroneck. N.Y. Both Harold and Phyllis are having fun with their father who has placed them on the gate to the estate with a no trespassing dsign. Both wear double breasted coats with stylish sailor caps. Notice Phyllis' long ringlets. Also notice that Harold's coat has a velvet collar rather than lapels. Both children wear black long stockings. The photograph here shows that they did not just use their country home in the summer. I wonder if father did not bring the children out to Mallowfield to select a Christmas tree. Notice that there is no sign of the house from the gate. Clearly there were sibstantial grounds around the home. We believe that there was also a beach front.
