A HBC reader tells us this portrait is his uncle Harold Victor Mason, His sister was Florence Victoria Mason who was our readers's mother. Harold was related to the Capper family. The relationship of the Masons to the Hardcastles is very distant and they are cousins of cousins. A HBC reader has provided us some images from her photograph album in the 1870s. The album belonged to Mary Ella Capper. The scan is Harold at age 5 years. He was born June 20, 1902 at Titchfield, Hampshire and died on November 19, 1976 at Waterlooville, Hampshire. Harold's father was Thomas Mason, originally a Police Sergeant, but later and for the greater part of his life, the Registrar and Relieving Officer for Titchfield, Hampshire. He had a younger brother Cedric and an older brother Thomas Reginald Saunders Mason who became a Police Lieut. in Washington DC.
