*** Charles Arltiese McLong

Charles Arltiese McLong
Figure 1.-- This is a tough one. The portrait is a cased Ambrotype. Most cased early photographs do not have names associated with them. This one does and weespecially like to archive named portraits despite photographic quality. Unfortunately the writing is very difficult to read. We venture Charles Arltiese McLong as a beginning point in deciphering it. All that we know for sure is the Charles and Mc bits. We will attach the writing hoping that readers might be able to help decipher the writing. Click on the image to see the writing.

The portrait comes from Connectict so this may have been where Charles was from. He puts his hand in his jacket, a Napoleonic pose probably used my the photographer to steady Charles' pose. He wears a military styled collar-buttoning jacket with a small rounded white collar.
