Belgian/Congo Boys Activities: Music--Ya Kid K


Figure 1.-- Ya Kid K was born in the Congo (1972). The Congo of course was Belgium's former Aftican colony -- The Belgian Congo. Ya was born Manuela Barbara Kamosi Moaso Djogi. She moved to Belgium when she was 11 years old. And later she moved to America. In Chicago she began exploring hip-hop nusic and the emerging sounds of 'house' music). Later she moved to Dallas, Texas. Finally she returned to Belgium. She was part of a group forming the hip hop label Fresh Beat Productions. She also participated in a dance project known as Technotronic This group debuted with a major worldwide hit, 'Pump Up the Jam' (1989).
