World War II: Revisionist Views

Figure 1.--

Hitler and the NAZIs perpetrated the lie that it was Poland abnd the Allies that launched World War II. It is difficult to believe how ordinary Germans processed this. There are indications that many Germans believed that the Poles were responsible and only if thy had made a few minor concessiins thare would have been no war. Even the nst basic reading of Mein Kampf shows tha this is absurd. Hitler did not just want a small chunk of Poland or even all of Poland, he wanted all of the East. That becamne obvious even to the arch appeaser, Prime Miniter Neville Chamnberlain, when Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia (March 1939).Even so, after the German invasion of Poland (September 1), it was Britain and France which declared war on Germany (September 3). This has given rise to a range of revisionist views of the War. They are always formed by cherry-picking history. Using this device you can come up with any historical, economic, or scientifc result so desired. We will archive here some of tghese revisionist views sent to HBC.

Thank you for your interesting website. I read World War II Air Campaign: Allied Bombing Campaign, 1939-41. It is curious how corrupt governments are decimating Internet information by deleting truthful and factual accounts and records of their historical misdeeds, and in the process, blacken the name of the innocent. In this regard I refer to your reference: "The initial British bombing raids in 1939 attempted to hit naval targets in coastal port cities and dropped leaflets on some German cities. There was not significant bombing campaign, except for Luftwaffe operations in Poland (September-October 1940), until the Battle of Britain. The early raids were conducted by the British who targeted naval facilities. The first British raid was on naval targets at Wilhelmshaven and the Nordsee Canal (September 4, 1939). Little damage was done and bombs fell on the Danish town of Esbjerg. The RAF lost 7 bombers. Another British raid hit Wilhelmshaven and Cuxhaven (September 5). These and subsequent British raids were relatively small which tried to hit specific military targets with little success, but suffered substantial losses." Your website is the only one I have so far discovered indicating Britain's early bombing of German targets after they declared war against Germany on 3rd September 1939. However, I have to point out that Germany was not the belligerent nation; the war was engineered, as was WWI, by Britain for commercial reasons. Further, since the Versailles Treaty when Danzig was unjustly and unlawfully confiscated from Germany and given to Poland, the Poles were sporadically attacking and murdering German citizens along the Danzig corridor. Germany never retaliated to these criminal activities, except by protesting to the League of Nations. In the mid-to-late 1930s the Poles increased their slaughter activities of German farmers, their children and wives in that region. Germany sent diplomatic pleas to Britain and France and the League of Nations, but to no avail. There prevailed a conspiracy of silence. The Poles initially consented to Germany's request for a one mile corridor through Danzig to its East Prussian region, then it cut off negotiations and refused to respond further. This is where the conspiracy comes in: Britain and France made a secret pact with Poland in late-1939 to come to her aid if attacked by Germany. Shortly after that Polish Bolshevik forces committed the Bromberg, East Prussia atrocities: slaughtering 5,500 men, women, babies and children and dismembering their bodies in the most vile subhuman fashion. [HBC note: Notice the NAZI termini\ology] For that reason only German forces attacked Poland, and as preplanned, Britain and France declared war two days later."

HBC response: A historian gathers facts and then forms his opinions. You have formed your opinion and than cherry picked your facts to conform to your opinions. The British Treaty with Poland was not secret and there was no planned 3-day delay. And in occurred after the Germans invaded Czechoslovakia (March 1939) in complete disregard to the Munich accord and assurances give to Primeminister Chamberlain. As part of the Wermacht invasion was the Einsatzgruppen which began the reign of terror the Germans are so well known for. Czechoslovakia was a democratic nation and the Germans there were not being mistreated. You complain about how Germans were treated by the Poles after World War I, and there were some abuses. But why are you silent about how Poles were treated within the German Empire before the War. You complain about how Germans were treated by the Poles after their country was invaded. There is a hyge difference, however, between the unorganized outrge of a few Poles abnd the well orgabized and horrendous crimes on a vast scale planned by the Germans. And why are you silent about how Poles were treated by NAZI authorities both before and after the invasion? Both the Germans and the Soviet set out to destroy the Polish nation. Are you unaware of the A-B Ajktionen? The numbers far exceed the scattered incidents you mention and of course were the precursor to horrendous crimes on both Jewish and non-Jewish Poles involving the murders of millions. Read 'Mein Kampf' where Hitler expalins his plans which lead to Generalplan Ost. This was written in 1923-24 before most of the incidents you mention occurred. Apologists can use scattered abuses to try to explain away NAZI atrocities, but in fact they had nohing to do with what the Germans did.

Your first sentence is not quite correct. Official so-called historians gather their information from other historians who receive their information from official sources, which are usually always tainted in their favour. The end product is home-biased. The officially-accepted American translation of Hitler's Mein Kampf is a typical example, where passages are deleted and others added. However, the real history of and relating to WWII started with Germany's scientific, cultural and industrial renaissance in the mid-19th century, achieving its high point in the 1880s with their peaceful global expansion of trade. At that time Britain was officially bankrupt; German products were sought after around the world in preference to English products; England was losing out big time on commercial trade. At that time Germany was building its Berlin to Baghdad railway, and had oil concessions with Turkey along the Turkish route down to Eastern North Africa. This was a major threat to English trade. Germany's commercial success was already a threat to England; the seeds were sown for WWI. WWII was merely an extension of WWI, where the satanic forces of America, Britain and France decided to destroy Germany to protect their own financial future.

HBC response: You are certainly correct that historians are influenced by other historians, but any historian worth his salt should also be using primary sources. You are correct also correct that historians are normally home biased. This used to be the case with America, but I find that our academic community has become so left-wing biased that this is no longer the case in America. There are many historians and journalists which are very critical of America and our conduct of World War II, the Cold War, and subsequent wars. There was great criticism of our participation in World War I which is why the Islationist movement President Roosevelt had to contend with was so strong. As to mistranslations of Mein Kampf. Are you saying terms like Lebenraum and Untermensch with all their sinister connotations are not in the book? I have a page on Mein Kampf. If you can provide me exampes of distortions in translations, I will be add them to the page. You began by discussing the air war. It is interesting that the Germans had no problms with bombing cities. Hitler after the Polish campaign told journalists touring the ruins of Warsaw. "I can do the same to any European city." What the Germans objected to was the bombs falling on German cities. The same was true of the Versailles Treaty which was punative, although many of the territorial changes (the Sudetenland was an exception) were based on popular referendum. But the Germans were not against punitive peaces. Have a look at the Franco-German Peacce Treaty (1871) or Brest-Litovsk (1918) imposed by the Germans. What they objeted to was punitive treaties imposed on them--not the idea of a punitive treaty itself. You are correct that the British were feeling the pinch of competition with the Germans, but again you are cherry picking your facts. The country that was proving hard to compete for both Britain and Germany was the United States. Using your thesis, Britain would have attacked America. The core problem you can't get away from is that it was not Belgium that invaded Germany in 1914 and it was not Poland that invaded Germany in 1939. You can write 100 more eMails with cherry-picked explanations, but you can not change the historical facts that it was Germany that launched both World Wars.

I have to admit that I have an innate tendency to protect the victim of an attack when I see that they are the innocent party, even if I do not like them. Thus my defence of Germany concerning both World Wars after extensive research, which I still undertake. That said, I am fully aware that the Germans are not angels in shining armour. However, their long history proves in general, as a nation, that they have a greater sense of integrity than the British, French or Americans. Their one overriding fault is their arrogant superiority concerning their achievements, because they have produced the highest percentage of the best than any other nation in all the sciences of the past several hundred years; this has been the major thorn to Britain and France for a long while.

HBC resoponse: Absolutely. The Germans were the largest ethnic minority in America. Probably now second to Hispanics. I am one of them, with no cross to burn against the Germans. How in heavens names do you measure integrity concerning national groups? I suspect however you came up with this it is highly subjective and thus invalid. Now in terms of scientific achievement there are ways of measuring it. The easiest is comparing Nobel Prize awards and dividing by population. This is a very crude indicator, but a useful beginning point. The Germans dominated Nobel Prize awards until the NAZI era. The NAZIs began undermining the education system and driving some of Germany's brightest minds out of the country. (Many of which helped build the atomic bomb and engage in other scientific and artistic pursuits which greatly enriched American life.) I suspect that the results would show the Germans were the world leaders. I would not, however, conclude that the Germans were biologically superior, but rather had a superior education system. Incidentally if you want to go the biological route, there is one group which out performed the Germans--the Jews. And the Jewish achievements are even more imprssive because there were many limits on Jewish achievement even before the rise of the NAZIs. This varied from country to country, but antiSemitism and limits on Jewish achievement was present even in pr-NAZI Germany, France and America. As to innocent victims of an attack. It was the Germans doing the attacking. Some of course were innocent many were not. I just finished an interesting book, addressing the recordings the British made in POW camps. The men recorded were Whermacht officers and men, most non-SS men. It is a good way of assessing just how innocent the Germans were. Given the crimes the Germans committed, they got off relatively lightly. Heaven's know what Stalin would have done to them had it not been for Amrica and Britain. The fact that the Germans wer not angels is the understatement of the year.. We all know about the Holocaust. That was just the beginning of what they planned to do. Do you know about Generalplan Ost?
