Canadian Mail Order Catalogs with Boys Clothings: The 1970s

Mail order catalogs chronicle trends in fashions. Catalogs in the 1970s show many clothes that look almost identical to American fashions. We note a lot of polyester clothes and bellbottom trousers. We also notice T-shirts, tank tops, and camp shorts, all popular American styles. The most important catalog store was Eatons.

1970

Eatons in 1970 offered camp shorts in blue, green, and khaki for boys 6-16 years of age. The styling looks identical to the camp shorts worn by American boys.

A HBC rerader reports that an Eaton catalog in 1974 offered camp shorts. He recalls wearing the same brand of camp shorts in the United States. The shorts were made by the Merit company.

1975

The Eaton catalogs in 1975 shoed fashions that look almost identical to American styles. We notice a lot of polester in 1975 and bellbottom trousers.

1976

The Eaton catalog offered camp shorts in 1976. I'm not sure where they were made, but the styles look identical with those markered in thev United States at the time.
