Figure 1.--A reader has provided this 1869 illustration for children's drawers, which I think was the term used by the advertizer. We do not yet know the magazine in which this garment appeared. We believe it is American, but can not be sure as we do not know in what publication it appeared. We believe it may have been a fashion magazine. It was apparently for a child 2-4 years old. We assume that it was suitable for both boys and girls, but am not sure how the advertisement presented the gender appropriateness of the garment.
