Here we see the famous “Jockey” brand name. Most boys’ cotton briefs were referred to as “Jockey” style underwear. Notice the Cooper name in the ad. Cooper founded the company in the 19th century. Jockey is one of the best known moderm manufactuers of underwear in the United States. The same is almost synoamous with briefs, sometimes referred to as jockey shorts. This is because it was Jockey that introduced briefs in 1930 and their trade-mark "Y"-front in 1934. These innovations had an enormous impact on men's underwear. The boy in the ad is about 8 years old.
