Vintage Clothing: Sears Ucanttear Overcoat

Figure 1.-- An overcoat was found together with a sailor tunic. This double-breasted overcoat would have been seen as a sailor style. It would have been purchased separately from the tunic suit found with it. The tunic suit is not real heavy material, so the two might not have been worn together.

An overcoat was found together with a sailor tunic. This double-breasted overcoat would have been seen as a sailor style. It would have been purchased separately from the tunic suit found with it. The tunic suit is not real heavy material, so the two might not have been worn together. But it is medium weight, so they could have been worn together. They may have been found together just because they were clothes worn by the same boy and not because they were always worn together. We are guesing the boy here also had a tunic suit dobe in a heavier material. The blue sailors jacket is just a little smaller than the overcoat and thus could be worn with it. The lined overcoat is 11 inches between the arm seams on the back, it is about 26 inches long. There is a red arm insignia. The collar is velvet. And there was a red rank insignia.
