Prince Edward was born on October 9, 1935 at Belgrave Square (1935). He was baptised as Edward George Nicholas Paul Patrick and is a cousin to both Queen Elizabeth and The Duke of Edinburgh. He is a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II through their fathers, Prince George, Duke of Kent and King George VI through their father, King George V. Because his mother, Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark was a cousin of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Edward is both a second cousin and first cousin once removed to Prince Charles and Orince William. Edward became Duke of Kent when hr was only 6 years old. His father serving in World War II died in a plane crash (1942). As he grew up, he began royal family duties on behalf of the Queen Elizabeth. He is president of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, most noatably presenting trophies at Wimbledon. He also served as the United Kingdom's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, retiring (2001). He is president of The Scout Association, the Royal United Services Institute, and the Royal Institution of Great Britain, and since 1967 Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England. He is also patron of the Institute of Advanced Motorists. THe Kents had four children. 1) George, Earl of St Andrews was born at Coppins (1962). George narried married Sylvana Tomaselli. 2) Lady Helen Taylor wasa born Coppins (1964). She married Timothy Taylor. 3) Lord Nicholas Windsor was born at King's College Hospital in London (1970). He married Paola Doimi de Lupis de Frankopan. 4) Lord Patrick Windsor was stillborn (1977).
