German Royalty: Frederich Wilhelm Children's Clothes--Sailor Suits

Figure 1--Three pf the Crown Prince's children are seen in white long pants sailor suits during 1914 in a Berlin park.

The Crown Prince's boys also wore sailor suits with traditional styling. The styling was based on the uniforms of the Imperial Kriegs Marina. Germany was one of the European countries in which sailor suits were especially popular. The young princes wearing sailor suits no doubt helped to popularize them. Again the boys were often dressed alike in these sailor suits. They generally wore soft hats. They had white and blue suits and suits with white middy blouses with blue trousers. Sailor suits appear to have been primary long pants outfits. Although I notice that Prince Wilhem wore short pants uniforms as younger boys, I'm not sure if the other boys did. There mother had a penchant for dressing them identically. So once Prince Wilhelm began wearing long pants sailor suits, his brothers appear to have also worn them.
