Prince Albrecht: Sailor Suits


Figure 1.--Albrect is pictured here in a white sailor suit. He looks about 11 years old, which would mean that it would have been taken about 1916 near the end of World War II.

There were also sailor suits. Like most German princes, Albrech and his brother wore sailor suits. Bavaria was land locked and had no navy. Bavaria was, however, [art of the German Empire and the Kaiser was building a large highseas fleet. We have noted both white and dark suits. These appear to be some of the few long pants outfits that he wore. The sailor suits the boys wore appear to have been quite standard ones. The white sailor suit seen here is notable in that it is very plain with no detailing at all.
