Princess Caroline, born in Monaco on January 23, 1957. H.S.H. Prince Albert, Heir to the Throne, Marquis of Baux, was born in Monaco on March 14, 1958. Their third child, H.S.H. Princess Stephanie, born in Monaco on February ??, 1965. The Principality was delighted to hear they had a heir to secure the throne for the future. Grace certainly loved her children. Perhaps she loved them too much, but that never got in the way when it came to disciplining them. In fact she was the diciplinarian in the family. Grace was fair. She tried hard to have her children grow up as normal as any child in the royal lime light could. Vacation time was usually spent back in Philadelphia and for several years Prince Albert attended summer camp with his American cousins. As in all families, her relationships with the children began to change as they grew up. On her death, the Prince was left to raise the children, which in the case of the girls proved to be a difficult undertaking.

Figure 2.--Princess Caroline dressed her son Andrea very sweetly in the long cut short pants that became popular in the late 1980s.

Caroline

Caroline was Prince Ranier and Princes Grace's first child born in 1957. She became extremely unruly and difficult to deal with as a teenager. Princess Grace's eldest child, Caroline married in 1978. Needless to say the marriage didn't last. Not much of a surprise for Grace or Rainier who were quite against the whole thing from the beginning Caroline was a beautiful young woman who liked to go out late in Paris. She was no longer interested in school. Her first marriage ended in a bitter divorce. Caroline lost her second husband, Stephano Casiraghi, in 1990. He was the father of their three children: Andrea (1984- ), ?? (198?), and Pierre (19??). Casiraghi was tragically killed in a powerboat racing accident. Caroline in recent years seems to have settled down. HRH Prince Ernst August, son of the late Prince Ernst August of Hanover and the late Princess Ortrud of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg; has married in a quiet ceremony. Andrea as the eldest son of Princess Caroline is in line to inherit the throne if his uncle Prince Albert does not marry and produce a son. Prince Andrea was very sweetly dressed, but only as a little boy.

Albert

Albert was Princess Grace and Prince Ranier's only son. He was born in 1958. Princess Grace dressed him very smartly dressed as a boy and wore short pants suits until about 12 years of age. Albert was rather a dutiful son in contrast to his sisters. Prince Albert had turned into a handsome young man. He later attended school in America. He developed the reputation as a playboy which he is now trying to reverse. He has never married. His sisters, interestingly enough, has finally settled down. Prince Albert is the most secretive and private of the three children. He remains unmarried at 40 and has yet to produce an heir.

Princess Stepanie

Stephanie was Prince Ranier and Princess Grace's third and last child. Princess Stephanie always tended to get her way which made her sometimes difficult to get along with as she grew older. Like her sister, she was turning into a very beautiful woman. She reportedly upset her father by having two children with her bodyguard Daniel Ducruet. She finally married him in 1995. A year later they went through an unpleasant and highly publicised divorce. Her three children are: Louis (1992), Camile (1994), and Pauline (1998).
