While most tights were flat weaves with solid colors, a variety of different patterns have been worn. These have varied from polkadots, flowers, other designs, plaid, and stripes. While we have seem many patterned tights in commercial catalogs, we do not seem them being worn very commonly. An exception here is stripped tights which at times seem to have been popular with girls. We note girls wearing them in the 1970s. They seem less common for boys. It is difficult to tell how popular patterned tights were with boys because they are often worj with long pants or even ski knickers, but much less commonly with short pants.
A wide variety of varied designs might be used. One popular was a cable design.
Tights come in a variety of floral patterns. Some are fancy white tights, usually sheet, with different floral patterns. Other are various colored tights with floral motiffs.
Scottish plaid are sometimes used for tights. Scottish boys almost never wore tights. Even so they were made for German boys.
Stripes are another patterned style forvtights. I'm not sure how common they were as the number of patterned tights I have noted is relativekly limited. They come in a wide variety of stripe designs and color combinations. Nany appear to be dark colored tights with contrasting colors. Some of the stripped tights appear to have the stripes covering all of the tights instead of just a portion of the leg like many of the other patterns.
