School Cadet Programs: Singapore

Figure 1.--The only school cadet progrm we know of at this time is the one at St. Patrick School. This portrait was taken in 1939.

We have no detailed information about cadet programs in Singapore. The country was a British colony and we note cadet programs at Singapore schools before World War II. We do not know how common this was, but we do know that the cadet programs were not just for British pupils. We do not have much information about schools in Singapore. We not thatin 1939 that St. Patrick's School had both local and British students together. The only school cadet progrm we know of at this time is the one at St. Patrick School. This portrait was taken in 1939 (figure 1). Singapore was the major British bastion in the Pacific. Despite having a large British garison, it was over run by the Japanese in February 1942 after the attack on Pearl Harbor effectively imomiblized the American fleet. We wonder what happened to these boys.
