Germanische Reichsschulen

The Germans during World War II appear to have conceived of Germanische Jugend would become the junior counterpart of the germanic SS in the occupied Germanic nations. The NAZIs conceived of several formations which were open to boys from all Nordic countries (Denmark, Flanders, the Netherlands, and Norway). One of these was the Germanische Reichsschulen (German National Schools). These schools were a joint effort of the Hitler Youth and SS. Three political military schools were set up: Valkenburg (naer Maastricht in Holland), Heijthuijsen (Holland), and Quatrecht (near Ghent in Belgium). The Germanische Reichsschulen were set up to train young people from the Germaic counties. They were open to youths from all Nordic countries, and noy just Dutch and Flemish youth, although they predominated at the schools because of the locations.

Uniforms

The uniform at the Germanische Reichsschulen was a mixture of SS anf Hitler Youth styles showing the joint patronage of these two organizations. It consisted of a brown tunic with a darker brown collar, open at the neck, worn with a yellowish brown shirt. On the upper arm the SS eagle was worn. They also wore brown shorts, ankle socks, and shoes. Their headgear was a brown forrage cap with the natioanl eagle and swastica (not the SS type) on the front above a red, white, and black cockade. Officers wore a similat type of tunic to that of the boys, but with a collar and black tie. They alsp wore black breeches and top boots, a peaked cap with a darl brown cap band on which was the red, white, and black cockade surmounted by a metal eagle and swastica badge of the "Political Leader" type. On the upper arm they could wear either the SS-type eagle or a swastica arm band (not the Hitler Youth type).
