Boy Scout Uniforms: Garments--Shirts


Figure 1.--Since the 1970s many Scout groups have adopted "T"-shirts or activity shirts for strenous summer activity. Some individual units have their own "T"-shirts.

The original Scout shirts were khaki or other military colors. The shirts also commonly had military features suvch as epelets and pocket flaps. Gradually Scouts in various countries have adopted brighter-colored shirts. American and British Scouts, however, have genrally continued to wear militaty-looking colors. Some shirts came without collars to make ir easier to wear kerchiefs. Otherwise the Scout had to decide to wear the kerchief under or over the collar. Cubs and other Scout levels in most countries wear destinctive colored shirts. Many Scout associations adopted "T"-shirt or activity shirts for strenous activities during the summer.

Colors

Many Scout associations since the 1970s have adopted "T"-shirt or activity shirts for strenous activities during the summer. Some Associations have adopted official activity shirts. Some individual units have their own "T"-shirts. Often camps or jamboress have their own special shirts.
