All New Zeraland children are given opportunities to develop skills in the use of modern technology. More and more classrooms are being wquipped with computers. The Learning
Centre or library is usually well equipped with electronic data retrieval. Many schools have specialized computer rooms. Many schools are committed to the continuing development of their information technology services to provide the best opportunities for its students.
Modern information technology was a challenge for New Zealand teachers in the 1980s. Many teachers with no computer experience were afraid of computers if not terrifed in some cases. This has changed in the 1990s. Many experienced teachers have come to terms with the computer and newer teachers are entering the schools with extensive computer experience.
