Have a look here at some Year 1 classes.

King's School

The Junior School has ten classes set in purpose built rooms for Years 1 - 3. In addition there is a Transition Class which caters for boys who turn five years of age after May 1st. This group joins with what is the main intake of boys at King's School - Year 1, the following year. All rooms are well resourced, not only with all materials relating to core curriculum subjects but also with a full array of audiovisual and Information Technology equipment. The boys work primarily from "home rooms" averaging 21 boys per class. This learning is augmented by a Reading Recovery programme with fully qualified Staff and a strong Special Needs programme catering for those boys (individuals and groups) with specific needs - either remedial or extension. All boys, as part of the general School timetable, also go to Specialist Staff who teach Music, Physical Education and Divinity.

Paengaroa School

Hello, we are in Room 2 at Paengaroa School. We have 13 girls and 9 boys. For most of us this is our first year in school for we only turned 5 in January or February. School is really exciting for we are learning lots of new things such as writing our names, the alphabet, numbers, sounds, poems, etc. We have been on an outing to the Rocky Shore. Our parents joined us and we had great fun! We gathered heaps of seaweed, sea stars, crabs and shells. All the live things were put back in the ocean after we had some discussions on them. In Social Studies we explored our school. Now we know exactly where our Office, Sick Bay and Library are. Through Technology we will find out about School Lunches and what the most popular and nutritious lunches are. When we had our swimming sports all of our children participated and everyone received a certificate. We hope you all have as much fun as we do in Room 2!
