New Zealand Daily Activity Views: Lunch--Second Period

Figure 1.--Here some boys are using the second part of their lunch break to go over their notes in the library for an upcoming test. other boys were using the time for sports or chatting with friends.

The second period of the lunch break is more varied. Lunch is followed by a rest period at some private preparatory boarding schools. At the day schools this is usually not the case. Older children often have a little free time which many of the boys use for sport. The most popular sports were rugby and cricket, but quite a range of activities go on. The girls are usually not as enthusiatic about using the lunch break for sport. Some of the girls enber in, but most set around and chat and watch the boys. While most of the children use the time to play spors or chat with friends, some of the children head for the library are cram for any upcoming afternoon tests. Thus you see some of the children finding quite little nooks where they can go over their notes. This is more common for the scsademically inclined. Most boys head off for the various fields to play sports.
