A related activity is public speaking. Schools offered a range of public speaking opportunities for the sudents. This also shows a British imprint as public speaking is another activity on which British schools tend to place some emphasis. There are both classroom spech activities as well as a range of competitions.

Public Speaking

Public speaking is competed within the College on all levels, as well as outside of the College in both local and regional competitions. In addition, the College also has several debating teams, covering all levels of the school. These teams actively participate in competitions both locally and regionally, including the Auckland Debating Association, the Jaycee's, and the Harrop Cup competition.

Lion's Young Speechmaker Contest

This year, we have bravely venyured off to experience the taste of oratory. Mark Simpson and I entered the Lions' Young Speechmaker Contest, where we had to travel all the way up to Whangarei to compete. It was well worth the trip though, as Mark effortlessly swiped the fourth prize. Geoffrey McPhail and Marvin Yee are also participating in the Jaycee Speech Competition.
