This year began with the sixth form being proud of a set of very good results gained in School Certificate examinations at the end of 1992. Early in the year Mrs Mitchell and her team of biologists took the sixth form on their outdoor biology trip to Temple Basin. The reports of the amount of work completed, the comradeship, helpfulness and general courtesy and politeness of these groups were a great credit to the sixth form. The "in" word to describe these students was "awesome". Once again it was our year levelfrom which the student representatives on the Board of Trustees was elected. Our student body has been very ably represented this year by Miriam Swanson and Kelly Horgan. Sarah Howisonand Katruna Burns are two students from form six who have taken an active part in student affairs. Sarah as the Chairperson of the C.H.S. School Council and Katrina as the C.H.S. representative on the Christchurch Youth Council. Our musicians were once again in the limelight. In the Smokefree Rock Quest, Dave Clark and Robin Wells were members of Qi Vel; Dylan Thomas, Jarros Moreton and Myles Allpress were men of Tardigrades who were commended for their original competition; and Kelly Horgan was a member of Love Soup, which won the Regionals and gained third place in the Nationals. Sixth form students have taken part in a wide range of sporting, musical, dramativ, environmental and community activities. Some of our sixth formers played a major role in banning the burming of waste at Princess Margaret Hospital. Many have given service to the school by coaching in their various fields of endeavour. Our Senior Girls' Bsketball Team included many sixth formers among its members and they performed creditbility at the National Tournament diring the August holidays. Along with their activities outside the classroom the sixth form have mostly taken their studies seriously, producing very good results. They have set down excellent study habits as many prepare for Bursary exams in 1995. It has been a busy and varied year. Well done form 6.

In school certificate, 69% of our students gained entry to Form 6 based on their performance in this examination. This was a significant increase on the previous year when 55% qualified for 6th Form entry. The Board of Trustees again offered monetary reawards for excellence in the internal Form 7 entry examination and School is grateful for this support. With 6th Form Certificate being an internally assessed qualification, it is important that our students are still tested ar Form 6 level in the equivalent of an external examination. This not only provides academic motivation, but also is a link between the external examinatiins, School Certificate and Bursary.
