Individual Students: Musicians


Figure 1.--New Zealand students are very sports minded. The schools are, however, giving increasing attention to other activities and music is one of the most important. . 

Here we have information on some of the students who have demonstrated musical taslent and worked to develop that talent.

Daniel

The 'top ranked' pupil in the 7th Form Musical Option, for 1996 was Daniel. He is a pianist of very fine ability who has been learning music, and the piano, since the 3rd Form, and has, in less than 4 years, reached a Grafe 8 level of ability: well asbove the Grade 5 level expected for Bursaries Performance. He has also been the principal keyboard plsyer for the stsgeband for the last 2 years, playing piano nd synthesizer, a task he shared, this year, with his younger brother, Henry. Daniel has also featured as a soloist with the Stageband in performing the Second Movement of Gershwin's Piano Concerto at the School Concert and Senior Prizegiving this year. Nexy year Danuel plans to continue his musical studies and also commence an engineering degree.
