The National Youth Drama School, held from 4th to 11th April at Havelock
North High School [and where the biggest single complement of students is
from our school] is desperate for billets for visiting students (aged 15-18yrs).
Currently there is a shortfall of 15-20 beds. It would not be a big commitment
.... really bed and breakfast .... as students are at school all day and most
evenings. If you can help or want to know more, phone Jenny or Judy. Billeting families will be entitled to free tickets to the various performances during Drama School week.
The Regional Sheilah-Winn Shakespeare Festival will be on Wednesday, 28th April
at the Little Theatre, Napier.
H.N.H.S. has three groups working hard towards this annual event;
rehearsing scenes from As You Like It, Othello, and Henry IV, Part I under
the tutelage of Mr Keys, Mrs MacGregor and Mrs Oliver. We also have two
entries in the student-directed section: Measure for Measure, directed by
Josh Cooke, and Romeo and Juliet, directed by Trygve Wakenshaw and
Michael Pattison.
And another Shakespeare snippet .... Daniel Betty (Form 7 last year) travels
to London in July to perform with New Zealand’s Young Shakespeare
Company at the GLOBE THEATRE.
The third big inter-house event - Theatre Sports - has kicked-off with Friday
lunchtime training for over 50 keen students. Training will carry on for
another 1½ terms to bring players up to performance standard.
