Free Time Activities: Uniforms and Clothes--Non-uniform Clothes

Figure 1.--The children at this school could change into their own clothes in the evening. Not all of the boys bothered to do so.

Other schools allowed the children to change out of their uniforms after classes in the afternoon. There were a range of reasons for this. Some children liked to be able to wear their own clothes. This option seemed particulrly popular with the girls. One advantage was that it saved a lot of wear and tear on the uniforms. There were many variations on non uniform clothes for free time. this. At some schools the children were only allowed to change after afternoon prep and dinner. Some schools only allowed the children to change out of their uniorms on the weekends. Weekend uniform rules varied widely from school to school. Quite a few schools allowed the children tgo change out of their uniforms after morning classes on Saturday ans they were allowed to wear their own clothes during the weekend, except of course Church on Sunday. Some schools had rules about what could be worn. This varied from school to school. One headmaster had an aversion to Star Wars T-shirts. Some schools did not allow jeans. Even when allowed to hange out of their uniforms, not all of the children bohered to do so. Here the girls normally did, but quite a number of boys did not bother. At some schools there was an actual rule requiring the children to change.
