Uniforms Shirts: Colored Shirts

Figure 1.--This school had blue-green shirts. A few schools had these colored shirts, but they were bot very common. Grey shirts were much more cpmmon for everyday wear.

Quite a few schools had adopted colored shirts as part of the school uniform. The most commom color for school uniform shirts was blue. We note blue shirts being worn at quite a few schools. Here there were a wide variety of blue shades. These were usually light blue shirts, but we also note some dark blue as well at a few schools. There was also a blueish-green shirt worn at a few schools. There were not a variety of other colors with very few exceptions. We noticed one school for example that had bright orange shirts. We only know of one school with the brught orange shirts. Other colors were were a little more common, but most schools had white or grey shirts. These more unusual colors are usually found only at the private schools.

Blue

Quite a few schools had adopted colored shirts as part of the school uniform. The most commom color for school uniform shirts was blue. We note blue shirts being worn at quite a few schools. Here there were a wide variety of blue shades. These were usually light blue shirts, but we also note some dark blue as well at a few schools. Grey shirts were not prn at the schools with blue shirts. They were commonly worn for both dress occassions and regular school days, with some exeptions. As far as we know, these schools did not use white shorts for formal occassionsas was common for schools whre the boys wore grey shirts. Here there was some seasonal variation.

Green

There was also a blueish-green shirt worn at a few schools. Of course this might be seen as a shade of blue as well. This was a relatively rare option, but we did notice it at a few schools. We notice this shirt in variious color intensities, both light and dark shirts. We have noted them being worn with navy blue and green blazers as well as tweed jackets. Notice the navy blue blazers here (figure 1).

Yellow

We noticed one school that had a destinctive bright yellow short-sleeve shirt. It was part of their summer uniform. It was a regular button-up shirt with pointed collar. It was worn as a casual summer shirt without a tie. It was the only school we encountered with a yellow shirt. The boys seemed happy with the shirts, probably because they were comfortable and not worn with ties. None of the boys mentioned the color to us.

Other Colors

There were not a variety of other colors, with very few exceptions. We noticed one school for example that had bright orange shirts. We only know of one school with the bright orange shirts. Other colors were were a little more common, but most schools had white or grey shirts and to a lesser extent blue shirts. These more unusual colors are usually found only at the private schools.
