Boarding: Children's Opinions

Figure 1.--As a result of the different reasons for boarding and the varying personlities, the children have a range of opinions about boarding. One factor is age. The younger children are dubious about boarding at first. The older children are more likely to like the idea of boarding, in part because their friends are at school. Even among the older children, however, opinions vary.

Children board for a range of reasons. The children have different opinions about boarding. Some children board because their parents are out of the country or otherwise unable to care for their children. Some parents believe the boarding experience to be beneficial. Some of the older children ask to board because it affords more time to participate in school activities. First Night

For some people the first night of term is the worst, but for others it is superb being together again, all the happy moments come back to you.

Looking Back

Before I came to Bramcote I was told (by my two elder brothers) what a big, tough school I would soon be at. When I arrived through the gates I began to wonder if the school was as bad as I had been told. After a few days I settled down, I found that I enjoyed the lessons and the general school life. I was told how tough rugby was --but I ound it enjoyable.

Looking Back

I have been at Brancote for four years and now it my turn to leave. During my years here I have met a lot of boys and made good friends with some. When I first arrived I was nine years old and I was put into Welbeck dormitory and form IIa, also when I was new here I thought the school had really big grounds and classrooms but then I learnt that there were even bigger schools in the world, which I could not believe until I saw ome. I have never been much of a sportsman, but I've enjoyed it and the sports facilities at Bramcote are very good.

Looking Back

During the four years tht I've been at Bramcote I have enjoyed most of the things I have done. The dorms are nice and clean and it's friendly. Thestaff are good teachers and are very keen, they organise competitions and all types of activities for the boys. The sport is good and I usually enjoy it a great deal even though I'm not very good. I enjoy running, long distance suits me best and this type of running is practised at Bramcote. The River adds much to the life here and I have fished and dine a lot of canoeing. In winter evenings the pool table is a very good way to pss the time.
