Figure 1.--The written musings of the children show that even the youngest have a great deal on their mind. |
On the sixth July 1980 at eight-thirty in the evening. I weighed exactly five stone, five pounds and measured four feet, eight and a half inches high.
 My eyes are light blue
My hair is light brown
When I came to Pownall,
I appeared with a frown.
I am not very old,
compared with the form,
I often have trouble
To keep myself warm.
 When first I see someone
I feel quite shy,
I am sure this description
Will change by and by.
I hope this riddle will puzzle you out
If you know who I am,
My name you can shout.
Christopher Adams, VR, The Wheasheaf (Pownall Hall), 1980.
 Somewhere in the world,
There is a loner.
Where is he going?
Nobody knows.
The people pass by
As if he was just a leaf on a tree.
The restvof the leaves have fruit,
But he has nothing
His fruit fell to the ground long ago.
 R. Carter, The School Record (Beachborough School), September 1979.
