British Preparatory Schools Photo Essays: Activities--Art Club

Figure 1.--.

Many schools have an art club or similar activity. Children who enjoy art may hoin the art club. Normally this is an unsructured activity. Rather than like art class where teachers often assgn projects, usually in art club the children persue their special interests. And often the teacher has more gime to assist and the art room facilities are less croweded than during an art class. Some schools have specifc Art Cluns like the Painting or Pottery Club.

My Club

My club takes place in the Art Room and Mr. Skertchly teaches us. I go to the Pottery Club and I think it is great. What we do is we start by getting some clay, and then some watter and then we begin to put quite a lot of water on and then make a ball. To make a thumb pot you put water on the clay and then make a very smooth bll. With your left thumb start to work your way further and at the same time enlarge the hole as well. You have to be careful that you don;tgo through the bottom. The thumb pot was thefirst thing I made and it took about one hour.
