British Preparatory Schools E-Book: Sample Daily Time Tables

Figure 1.-- The prep schools tended to have similar, but not identical daily schedules. The schedules of day and boarding schools have become more similar as many boarding schools took in larger numbers of day students.

We will also load some sample time tables so readers can see how basically the school day was structured. Of course this varied somewhat from school to school. The sample time tables will provide a rough outline of the school day and help the reader to better understand the school day. Of course the time-table can only be presented on a very basic level. The time table is often more complicated than represented here. Readers, however, can then focus on the daily events of greatest interest which our discussed in other sections of our eBook.

Daily Routine

The work is divided into periods of thirty-fice minutes, and the school hours are:

9 o'clock: Morning prayers

There are many extra-curricular activites of a voluntary nature which take place after school on certain days of the week. They include Choir, 'Extra Games', Play rehersals, Orchestra, Riding and Squash.

The school day commences with morning prayers and there is a close connectin with the Parish Church of Seale
