Some schools used the blazers more than others. The most common approch was just for the boys to wear shirts with or without a tie or when it was chilly a jumper. There were , however, some schools where the boys commonly wore their blazers to class and during the school day. This was especially common of course when it was a little chilly. This was a formal approach that we believe was more common earlier. We understand that earlier many schools required boys to wear their blazers during classess. We found tht by the 1980s that this was no longer very common at boarding schools where mostly the children put their blazers away for special occassions. Where we see blazers neing worn commonly was the day schools. Some day schools took the same approach as for jumpers. The children kept theor blazers in the class rooms and wore them as they saw fit. This included morning break and lunch. We even noted some boys wearing them for gym, although this was less common. While the boys put on their blazers during the day at some schools, we never saw them putting on their caps.
