French Stores Handling Boys' Clothes: Cyrillus

Figure 1.--Here is a composite image of the boys' clothes offered by Cyrillus in their 2003 on-line catalog. The boy wears a collared shirt, cardigan sweater, suspender short pants, and kneesocks.

We note that in the 2000s that Cyrillus is one of the major French on-line clothing stores withj extensive offerings of children's clothes for boys and girls. We are not sure when the store was founded. Nor do we know if it began as a brick and motor store or was founded as an on-line retailer. Just like paper catalogs, you can track changes in styles and detailing in the online catalogs. A HBC reader writes, "In boyswear, the informalization process is currently at the point where wearing a shirt with buttons is sufficiently dressy for all but the most solemn occasions. Check out Cyrillus' online boutique "Enfants élégants". The the boys' clothes start on page 4. Cyrillus no longer sells the H-bar suspender shorts that they carried in 2002. Apparently Cyrillus also has actual stores. A reader writes, "At Cyrillus' boutique one can find special tights for boys less 6 year old. I think, but I am not sure, in dark blue only. Perhaps the boy here is wearing tights." 2) Cyrillus is able to make some items adapted at the taste of the luxury categories customes .

Reader Comments

A French reader writes, "This boy's clothes look like the typical present style for a boy from an affluent or educated family. One says: he is wearing ' culotte anglaise '. The short pants are made in wool in grey or dark blue color. It is already a clasic from a long time. Notice the pants became longer and longer year after year."
