Figure 1.--This was the Christmas portrait for these German boys. They wear identical Hbar shorts. (Only the younger boy's collar is differet. The inscription on the back reads, "Weihnachten 1942, Hermann und Bruno, Der Preuße und der Schwab". That means "Christmas 1942, Hermann and Bruno, The Prussian and the Swabian". We don't know how the boys acquired their nicknames. Christmas is Germany's most important holiday. Christmas 1942 was not a very happy time for Germany. At the time the German 6th Army was cut off and starving in Stalingrad.

Some HBC readers tell us that they would like to be able to access new pages, but do not want to receive E-mails on every new page added to HBC. We have also for several years now experienced problems dealing with AOL. Thus we have created this page for HBC readers. We will list new pages or existing pages to which we have added additional information. We used to maintain a page like this. We know from this experience that we sometimes forget to add a new page, but we will try to remember to do this as much as possible. There will not be a link on our home page so you will want to add this to your favorites/book marks. We plan to only make this page available to readers who support HBC. There may be occasional changes in the URL. Just let me know if you have any question about this new HBC feature.

Reader Alert

Two HBC readers have experienced problems bringing up the images. I think it may be a problem associated with the newest version of Fire Fox and IE. What happens is the pages load, but for some reason the ipasscode box does not come up so you can long on. What ever the cause, there is a simple fix. Click here for the information needed to bring up the passcode box. There may be a better fix, but we believe this one wil work. A HBC reader tells us that the latest version of Fire Fox has fixed this problem. I'll leave thus note up for a while in case readers have the older version.
