European Royalty: Russia--The Tsaraevich Alexei's Juvenile Outfits

Figure 1.--Alexei is seen here on his 3rd birthday wearing his first boyish suit. It is a short pants suit with Russian blouse styling. He still wears short socks and strap shoes. I'm not sure what to make of the cap.

Alexei was breeched on his 3rd birthday. Apparently his first boyish suit was part of his birthday celebration. While he wears his first boyish suit, his curls have not yet been cut.

Alexei than began wearing a a variety of juvenile outfits, often with knee-length short pants. These outfits came in several different styles. Many of these outfits were variations of Russian blouses which was also a popular style in Germany. Often these suits were white or light colors with detailong in traditional Russian weaving styles. As a todler he was not commonly dressed in sailor suits.
