Unknown Youth Organization Images 10-19

Figure 1.--Here we have an unidentified photograph of a Scout group. It is European, but we have no idea what country. As far as we can see, the boys do not seem to be wearing destinctive badges. The only destinctive feature we notice is a "V" on the sleeve, but have no idea what country Scouts wore such uniforms. We think they might be Hungarian, but this is just a guess. The photograph is also not dated, but it looks rather like the 1930s to us.

HBU has received images of some some youth organizations that we can not identify to be able to place in the site. In some cases we are not sure about the country, date, type of organzation, or other factors. It is often possible to identify Scout groups, but often not the country. As HBU has readers from all over the world. We are hopeing that readers will be able to identify some of thdse imagds. The task here is magnified by the fact that many counties had multiple Scout associations, often with very different uniforms. HBU will place those images here. Readers are encouraged to view these images and submit any insights that you might have. Even if only a small detail, your insights can be helpful.

Image Set 10

Here we have a fascinating set of images taken by a Paris newspaper. Some of the boys are clear Boy Scouts, but others are in rather unusual uniforms. The photograpghs are undated, but we know that they were taken during or after 1913 because some of the boys are carrying the 48-star American flag. The photograph could have been taken during the 1910s, but the early 20s is possible. We at first thought American Scouts going to Paris during World War was unlikely, what with lurking U-boats, but now think it is possible. Notice how deserted the street is. The boys are on some kind of tour, which is the only word we can make out on a flag being carried. The boys are depicted both marching in Paris as well as working in the countryside. The photographs are stamped "Le Journal, 100 Rue Richelieu of Paris" which I assume is a newspaper.

Image 11

Here we have an unidentified photograph of a Scout group (figure 11). It is clearly European, but we have no idea what country. The photograph shows changing ideas bout the length of shorts. One boy wears the very long shorts usually worn in the 1920s (almost like knee pants). Another boy wears much shorter cut shorts.
