Duke Ernst II of Saxe-Altenburg: Children's Clothes


Figure 1.--Duchess Adelheid is seen here with her two sons Georg-Moritz Prince Friedrich-Ernst, probably about 1912. As far as we can tell, the boys almost always wore saiolr suits.

The only information we have of the children's clothes is from available portraits of the royal family. Their mother like many German mothers was very practical to sailor suits. Except as babies, we only see the boys dressed in sailor suits which thy wore with soft caps. The sailor suits all look to be very traditional styles. Even the girls at times wore sailor suits. The boys' hair was clipped very short, almost shaved. The girls had long hair worn with hair bows.
