The choristers wear white hooded valbs with wooden crosses for religious performances. This is a costume worn by several, but not all French choirs. This ia a destinctive French costume for boys' choirs. Only in France do several choirs wear this costume for their performances.

This translates, "Another photograph which compared to that with the Pope on another page clearly shows the existence of the two costumes, the alb with the wood cross for the religious ceremonies and the outfit with the shield worn by the boys for secular concerts and representations official of the town of Douai, to France or abroad."
