We have not been ableo find much information about the Jongenskoor Cantasona, It vwas aboys' choir founded in Boxtel. This is a town in the in the southern Netherlands. We are not sure when it operated. One suggestion was 1943--99. Of course 1943 was during the German occupation. We are not sure. There is one indication it only oprated to about 1979. They seem to have been active (1950s-70s). Sailor suits were a popular choice for Dutch and other Europan choirs. They seemed to have experimented with sailor suits for the choir (1950).
We note some images during performancves, but very poor quality. The Choir traveled by coach/bus to all kinds of intersing places within driving range of Boxall, providing all kind of touristic expeiences. The choir visitd Clervaux in Luxenbourg (1956). We note another photograph from a trip to Wittlich (about 1968). This is a town in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, relatively near the Netherlands. The town dates back to Roman times and has as a beautiful historic town center. The Choir sang a lot in churches and at concerts in the Netherlands and Germny.
There was alot of church and classical music. There was also time for other music. This is evident from available recordings from the private collection of Thed van den Aker. Piet Bloem (one of the first leaders of Cantasona together with Martien Habraken) often rehearsed these kinds of songs. Rcordings were made in the gymnasium of the St. Francis School on Mr. Martien's Revox tape recorder. They are dated around 1966. The boy soprano was Thed van den Aker.
The directors were Ledenlijst H.Hartkoor (1958-62) and H. Hartkoor (1962-66). The boys wear a uniform of white dress shirt, neck tie, black short pants, anf knee socks. They also performed in coral robes. There may have been an earlier choir -- the Sacred Heart Choir. There are quite a few pages on the intenet, mostly beautifully performed choral pices, but very little historicalabout the Choir. That is notable for a choir that no longer exists. Hopefully our Dutch reades can tell us more about the choir.
