French Working Boys: Communications Delivery Boy

Figure 1.--We note similar parterns with communications messenger boys as we note in most other countries. An image of the Paris telephone exchange that the operators were women, but there appears to be a uniformed messemger boy. I'm not sure what his job was. I am also not positive how to date this impage, perhaps the 1890s. .

We note similar parterns with communications messenger boys as we note in most other countries. An image of the Paris telephone exchange that the operators were women, but there appears to be a uniformed messemger boy. I'm not sure what his job was. I'm guessing he dlivered telephone messages to people without telephones, perhaps like a Western Union messenger delivering telegrams. Or perhaps he delivered messages within the company. I think the French telephone compny may have also delivered telegrams as well. But here I am not positive aout this. Almost surely there were also French boys delivering telegrams.
