Belgian Boys Clothes: 1950s Familiy--Bibfront Shorts

Figure 1.-- We note the youngest boy in the family wearing bibfront shorts. Unlike some of the other family snapshots, he is dressed rather slopily. He wears what looks like a sweaster or hevy shirt with his bibfront shorts.

We note the youngest boy in the family wearing bibfront shorts. Unlike some of the other family snapshots, he is dressed rather slopily. He wears what looks like a sweaster or hevy shirt with his bibfront shorts. His slightly older brother is dressed in a sweater and regular short pants. The two seem to have been very close as the youngest in the family. A reader writes, "Are you sure those are bibshorts? The way they drape across his lap makes it look like some kind of apron or pinafore." This could well be. I thought at first that they were just badly fitted shorts, but this seemed as little strange as this boy and his little brother are usually very smartly dressed. Looking at the image more closely, it does seem a kind of pinafore.
