German Boys' Clothes: Breslauer Hausfrau --Play Clothes/Blusenanzug (1936-37)

Figure 1.--We note by the 1930s new and very quite contemporary type of Blusenanzug. This might be translated as Blouse Suits, but probably more correctly pluy suiys or shorts sets. We notice them beginning in the 1930s. They look to have a half zipper or button front. They were outfits for younger boys from 2-4 years old. The ad copy reads, "Wenn die Sonne einmal nicht scheint, dann ist ein kleiner Bub in einer Bluse mit angeknoepfter Leinenhose nicht zu luftig u[nd] doch zum Spielen passend angezogen. Linda-Schnitt [a company offering this tailor patter] f[uer] 2-4 J[ahrigen] Etwa 0,75 m einfarb[igen], 0,75 m gestr[eiften] Leinen." Source: 3250, Bresaluer Hausfrau, Jg 1936/37, Nr 36.

Here we see a ploy flying a penant at the beach in a sporty outfit. The NAZIs had been in power in Germany for 3 years and there was more and more flag waving. We note by the 1930s new and very quite contemporary type of Blusenanzug. This might be translated as Blouse Suits, but probably more correctly play suits or shorts sets. We notice them beginning in the 1930s. They look to have a half zipper or button front, a style called Rugby shirts in Britain. The shorts buttoned on to the shirt. They were outfits for younger boys from 2-4 years old. The accompamying illustration showed bots wearing them with sandals, but we did not notice boys wering sandals much during the Third Reich. The ad copy reads, "Wenn die Sonne einmal nicht scheint, dann ist ein kleiner Bub in einer Bluse mit angeknoepfter Leinenhose nicht zu luftig u[nd] doch zum Spielen passend angezogen. Linda-Schnitt [a company offering this tailor patter] f[uer] 2-4 J[ahrigen] Etwa 0,75 m einfarb[igen], 0,75 m gestr[eiften] Leinen." This translates as, "If the sun wasn't shining , then a little boy dressed with a blouse and a straped button-on short pant, not too light but well for playing. For 2-4 years old: about 0,75 meter plain material and 0.75 meter striped material"
