Dutch Boys' Clothes: Bows


Figure 1.--This Dutch pictured on a postcard wrears a bow with a big white collar. It looks like he may be wearing a smock. The card was used postally in 1926.

American an European boys in the latter half of the 19th century common wore bows with a variety of outfits. The pattern and styles varied over time and from country to country. Boys continued to wear bows in the early 20th centuty. Some of these bows wre quite laarge and floppy/ We are, however, just beginning to compile information about the bows worn by Dutch boys. The image here shows that Dutch boys wire bows into the 1920s, byt we do not believe that they were very common by the 1930s.
