The Year 13 curriculum offers speclized courses in printmaking, painting, and photography for the advanced students. Each student chooses one of the three areas to pursue.


Printmaking


Pri 71: Drawing and Monoprinting

Entry Requirements: Art 61 and Art 62 or 63

Cost: $5.00 Students must provide: Bulk Art Pack

Purpose: To introduce the relationship between drawing and printmaking with an emphasis on observational drawing, experimentation with drawing media and monoprinting techniques.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this module students should be able to:

Content: Research and development. Art camp. Field trip. Use of various drawing media. Use of tone, texture, composition, colour form. Artist study.

Pri 72: Relief and Intaglio Printmaking

Entry Requirements: Pri 72

Cost: $5.00

Purpose: To learn and use the techniques of relief (block printing) and intaglio printmaking (etching) based on current and established Art practice.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this module students should be able to:

Content: Development of technical processes of woodcutting and etching. Examples of other printmakers' work. Viewing contemporary exhibitions. Field trip.

Pri 73: PrintmakingAn Individual Programme

Entry Requirements: Pri 17I and 172

Cost: $5.00

Purpose: To develop a systematic approach to print-making. Students completing this module will be able to develop and extend their understanding of printmaking practice through a thematic study.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this module students should be able to:

Content: Individual study of specific printmaking techniques and media Generation and regeneration of ideas.

Pri 74: Printmaking: Developing a Presentation

Entry Requirements: Pri 71, 72 and 73

Cost: $5.00

Purpose: For students to present a body of work for examination or exhibition

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this module students should be able to:

Content: Students individual plan. Indepth study of personal printmaking techniques Generation and regeneration of ideas. Mounting and presenting final works.

Painting


Ptg 71: Painting

Entry Requirements: Art 61, 62, 63, and 64

Cost: $5.00

Students must provide: Bulk Art Pack

Purpose: To introduce recent and established painting practice as well as the formal aspects of picture making (composition). Students are encouraged to experiment with drawing media and use their environment as their source of subject matter.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this module students should be able to:

Content: Artist study. Research and resource drvelopment. Varous drawing media. Art camp/field trip. Study of composition, tone, texture, colour and form.

PTG 72: Painting Technique and Established Practice

Entry Requirements: Ptg 71

Cost: $5.00

Purpose: To generate work developed trorn the study of recent and established practice and from the creative use of drawing and painting media in ohservaition of a chosen theme.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this module students should be able to:

Content: Artist study. Stretching of paper and canvas. Priming of boards. Using oils and acrlics. Mixed media approach using paint and drawing media, pastels, chalks, pen. Field trip.

PTG 73: Drawing Out: Personal Development

Entry Requirements: Ptg 71 and 72

Cost: $5.00

Purpose: Promotes the ability to clarify and regenerate ideas in painting through indeplh personal study and performance.

Content: Individual study of specific painting techniques and media. Generation and regeneration of ideas.

Ptg 74: Developing a Presentation

Entry Requirements: Ptg 71, 72 and 73

Purpose: This module is for students to present a body of work for examination or exhibition.

Photography


Pho 71: Taking Photographs and Dark Room Procedures

Entry Requirements: ART61 and ART62 or ART63 and ART64. Students must have access to a 35mm SLR camera or at discretion of teacher

Cost: $20.00

Purpose: This module will introduce students to the ideas and skills of photographic composition, exposure and darkroom practice.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this module students should be able to:

Content: Technical information on: darkroom developing, camera parts and how to use them. Shooting subjects. Field trip.

Pho 72: Making Prints

Entry Requirements: Pho 71

Cost: $20.00

Purpose: This module invu investigates and makes use current phtographic practices and working procedures

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this module studenis should he able to:

Content: Artist photographer study. Shooting minimum of 4 films. Developing films and proof sheets, 4 enlargements. Field trip.
