This is the music courses available to first year students at most secondary school. First year students have only limited time for elective courses, so only one course is offered.

Mus 31: Fundamentals of Music

Entry Requirements: Nil

Cost: Nil

Purpose: To understand the fundamental materials of music and to compose and perform music.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this module students should be able to:

Content: Listen to and appreciate different types of music. Learn about composition, performance and basic notation of music.


Mus 32: Performance Music

Entry Requirements: It is recommended that Option music students have iteneratate private music lessons on their chosen instrument.

Cost: Varies

Purpose: To understand the basic elements of music and to compose and perform music.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of this module students should be able to:

Content: Learn to compose and perform music. Listen to and appreciate different types of music. Understand notation of music.
