Mus 61: Performance Music

Entry Requirements: It is required that Option music students have itinerant private music lessons on their chosen instrument.

Cost: Varies

Purpose: This course aims to provide students with practical skills and experience in performance of music.

Learning Outcomes: : By the end of this module students should be able to:

• Participate in a musical activity as part of a group.
• Compose or arrange a piece of music for a small musical group.
• Present a seminar on a composder from a chosen period in history.

Content: Group performance. Composition. Aural perception. Musical knowledge. Music theory.

Award: CSC Certificate or towards SFC

Mus 62: Performance Music

Entry Requirements: Mus 61

Cost: Varies

Purpose: This course aims to provide students with practical skills and experience in performance of music.

Learning Outcomes: : By the end of this module students should be able to:

• Perorm two pieces of music in a concert setting.
• Participate in a musical activity as part of a group.

Content: Individual performance. Group performance. Aural perception. Music theory.

Award: CSC Certificate or towards SFC

Mus 63: Performance Music

Entry Requirements: Mus 62

Cost: Varies

Purpose: This course aims to provide students with practical skills and experience in performance of music.

Learning Outcomes: : By the end of this module students should be able to:

• Participate in a musical activity as part of a group.
• Compose an original piece of music for a specific occaSion.
• Present a research assignment on a New Zealand composer of their choice.

Content: Group performance. Compossition. Aural perception. Musical knowledge. Music theory.

Award: CSC Certificate or towards SFC

Mus 64: Performance Music

Entry Requirements: Mus 63

Cost: Varies

Purpose: This course aims to provide students with practical skills and experience in performance of music.

Learning Outcomes: : By the end of this module students should be able to:

• Perform two pieves of music in a concert setting
• Participate in a musical activity as part of a group.
• Sit an external music theory exam

Content: Individual performance. Group performance. Aural perception. Musical theory.
