Figure 1.--Some school may allow considerable free time in the afternoon on at least some days. Other schools have a more tightly scheduled program. On this day these boys only had time for a quick read of their favorite comic after afternoon games.

The children at many prep schools have some free time in the afternoon. This varies from school to school as well as the day of the week. Some schools have a much more tightly scheduled afternoon program than others. At some schools there may be only a short time after games in the afternoon. Other schools may schedule a larger block of times allowing the children to persue some favorite activities. At other schools there may be only a short period after schedule classes, games, and other activities. This of course depends somewhat on the afternoon schedule which is more varied than the morning schedule. Some schools seem to see more benefit in free time than others. This is one of the factors that affects the character and atmposhere of the schools. Also some schools are better equipped than others and offer more alernatives for freetime activities.
