Luitpold also wore knickers suits with lace collar. Several portraits were taken of him in these suits. The portraits were probably taken about 1912-13, shortly before his untimely death. He certainly looks healthy. He looks to be about 11-12 years old. He may have even worn this suit at 13 years of age. He wears both a light and dark colored satin suit. The light-colored suits had the same lace collars that he wore woth the kneepants suits. The dark satin knicker suit had a large pointed lace collar. In some of the portraits it is difficult to make out the material. In others, however, it looks very much like it is a satin suit. It is clearly a dark color, but does not look to be black. I'm not sure what color the suit was. The rather long jacket is plain. It has large buttons which button at the collar. While the jacket is plain, it is worn with a large pointed lace collar and matching wrist cuffs. Some of the knickers suits, like the kneepants suit were done in the button-on style. The pants look to be knickers. They clearly button or buckle over the knee, but do not blouse out much. We do not have any images of him wearing these dark sits with above the knee kneepants. They were worn with dark long stockings.

Luitpold wears both a light and dark colored satin suit. The two suits are not just different colors, but styled differently.
The light-colored knickers suit looks very similar to his kneepants suit. They are clearly made in satin. There may have only been one of these light-colored knickers suits. The jacket is made with an open collar and has large satin-covered buttons. The outfit had the same lace collars and matching wrist trim that he wore with the kneepants suits. Some of the knickers suits, like the kneepants suit were done in the button-on style. We did not notice at first that he had begun wearing his light-colored suits with knickers, but enlargements of available images confirm this. This is difficult to follow because not all the portraits were taken full length, so we sometimes do not know the type of pants that he was wearin. There may have been only one suit. We do not think that this suit was white or even cream. It may have been a light blue, but we can not be sure with the available balack and white image.
All of the knickers suits were worn with long stockings. The light colored suits were worn with light-colored stockings. I'm not sure of they were white or maching colors. The dark suits were worn with dark long stockings.
