Smock Country Trends: Unknown Nationality


Figure 1.--These brothers wears smocks with short pants are rompers. We believe that they are either Dutch or German.

We have noted some images of boys in smocks which are not identified. We have some idea about the countries involved, but often can not be positive unless there is some provinance associated with the image. Hopefully reader will have some insights to help idetify these images.

These brothers wears embroidered smocks with short pants or rompers. They look to be about 3-5 years old. I'm not sure when the portrait was taken, but would guess about 1950. We believe that they are either German or Dutch boys. We note boys both in Germany and the Netherlands wearing very similar smocks. They clearly are not like smocks worn in England, France, or Italy.
